Work under the direction of the Driller as necessary to support on-going rig operations. Implement and uphold safety and environmental compliance requirements. Operate/Monitor derrick equipment and mud systems under the direction of the Driller. Perform general derrick, shaker area and pump room house-keeping duties and material preservation activities under the supervision of the Driller. Assist other personnel as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 6+ months of experience as Derrickman, or completion of Derrickman core competency instruction.
- Completion of all training requirements for the position within designated time period.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
OPERATIONS
- Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Driller during drilling, work over and completion operations.
- Handle drill pipe or tubing when it is being hoisted out or lowered into the hole.
- Apprise the Driller of mud condition and pumping equipment conditions.
- Relieve drilling crew members as necessary during special operations.
- Know the location of all the well control equipment, blowout preventer (BOP), accumulator, and firefighting equipment, and understand completely their operation and maintenance.
- Maintain periodic check on mud weight, viscosity and add mud or chemicals as directed by the mud engineer.
- Assign the drilling crew to various work details as needed.
- Assist the Driller in handling day-to-day rig activities, maintenance problems and mud problems.
- Relieve the Assistant Driller or Driller as required, supervise and assist in mud room activities.
- Complete all paperwork as directed by the Driller.
- Encourage appropriate professional development and training opportunities for employees.
MAINTENANCE & REPAIR
- Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned during maintenance operations.
- Maintain a clean and orderly pump room and pit room.
- Apply Preventative Maintenance Program for crown block, traveling block and all other derrick equipment.
- Perform housekeepingduties as required, such as keeping the pit and pump rooms clean and clear of all tools and unnecessary equipment.
- Keep BOPs washed down.
- Keep shale shaker and de-sander clean when in use.
- Perform necessary maintenance on the shale shaker and mud pumps.
- Become familiar with blowout and shut-in procedures.
- May be required to do rig and equipment maintenance such as chipping, scraping, painting, scrubbing, and cleaning.
- Assist in keeping the deck of the rig free of all unnecessary tools and equipment.
- Relieve the Assistant Driller as assigned in order to gain experience for promotion.
- Assist in maintaining the general appearance of the drilling rig.
HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL
- Implement and uphold Noble's safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all operations proceed in a safe manner. Correct and notify responsible parties of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.
- Encourage and motivate personnel to observe safety and environmental policies and all intended and implied requirements of Noble's Management System.
- Responsible for familiarizing and adhering to Noble's Live Safe Code for the purpose of promoting a zero-incident and no-harm workplace.
- Responsible for familiarizing and utilizing Noble's Hazard Identification Tool to manage risk created by various energy sources found in the workplace.
- Attend and actively participate in daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings.
- Ensure compliance with the requirements established in Noble's Management System.
- Initiate a safety stand down whenever an unplanned hazard or change in the expected results is observed.
- Perform all Safety Critical Tasks as detailed in the HSE Case.
- Incorporate the STOP the job planning process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team.
- Take the initiative to perform emergency duties without specific orders or instruction.
- Develop and implement Job Safety Analysis and prepare hazard assessments as required.
- Responsible for compliance with all government regulations.
