Job Description Summary:

The Sustainability Director for Brazil & South Cone will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing sustainability initiatives for the region, aligned with LATAM and Global strategies. The role ensures the region meets its sustainability goals and complies with environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainability, environmental science, or related fields, with proven project management and sustainability reporting skills.

What You’ll Do for Us

  1. Ensure compliance of Sustainability Strategy (Water, Packaging, Emissions) at the South Region level, following LAOU Sustainability guidelines across all countries.
  2. Monitor and report on sustainability performance metrics and progress towards goals.
  3. Collaborate with finance, technical, and strategic planning teams to meet global and regional reporting requirements.
  4. Identify, share, and reapply synergies and best practices within the South Region; monitor external trends in sustainability.
  5. Serve as the focal point for interface with LAOU Sustainability team, sharing information, trends, and risks.
  6. Partner with Technical, Marketing, and Operations teams to embed sustainability principles across the South Region.
  7. Integrate the Sustainability Agenda into business planning, leadership, growth behaviors, company values, and strategic plans, promoting sustainable growth.
  8. Engage with key local stakeholders within the sustainability ecosystem across the region.
  9. Work with Government Relations to provide evidence to protect the business from restrictive regulations.
  10. Coordinate with External Communications to promote positive content and enhance corporate reputation.
  11. Provide institutional leadership with bottlers.
  12. Focus approximately 70% of efforts on short to mid-term strategies, and 30% on long-term planning.

  • Strategic and pragmatic vision: translate complex challenges into actionable strategies.
  • Leadership presence: lead cross-functional teams and influence across the company and Coca-Cola system.
  • Networked mindset: build partnerships with government, associations, opinion leaders, NGOs, etc.
  • People development: foster an environment for potential growth and high performance.
  • Company Spokesperson: represent the company externally at forums, workshops, and events related to sustainability, adhering to communication principles.

Communication Focus

This role involves external representation in meetings, forums, and workshops, with frequent communication with stakeholders; internally, it requires influencing and engaging franchise operations and other departments to achieve strategic sustainability KPIs and long-term goals. The ability to foster collaboration and find common ground among divergent opinions is essential.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in sustainability or related fields, with leadership responsibilities and impactful initiatives.
  • Fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese

Mastery of (Required)

  • Deep understanding of sustainability, climate change, and social impact concepts
  • Proficiency with sustainability management tools (impact matrix, sustainability report, etc.)
  • Knowledge of water, packaging, and carbon emission challenges in the industry
  • Strong business acumen to leverage sustainability for value creation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work agilely across teams and stakeholders

Broad Expertise (Nice to Have)

  • Experience in community engagement, economic development, environmental policy, human rights, diversity & inclusion
  • Building partnerships with public, private, and civil society organizations
  • Government affairs experience
  • Participation in external debates and lectures
