We are looking for a passionate and driven Operations Director to lead our operational team into the exciting future of autonomous marine technology. You'll play a key role in ensuring our state-of-the-art USV fleet remains operational, reliable, and cost-effective, while spearheading our ambitious expansion into Belgium. Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance and continuous improvement related to maritime safety standards, including ISM Code.
- Manage compliance of Tidewise's USVs with applicable national and international maritime regulations.
- Serve as the primary contact for maritime classification societies, managing certifications, approvals, and audits.
- Engage proactively with DPC at Marinha do Brasil to ensure alignment with regulatory expectations.
- Oversee daily fleet operations from the Remote Operations Center (ROC), ensuring operational effectiveness.
- Schedule and coordinate training for the operational team, supporting their career growth and professional development.
- Optimize fleet operations by minimizing downtime, proactively managing maintenance, and controlling operational costs.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to ensure cost efficiency, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate closely with technical and engineering teams to maintain high operational standards.
- Optimize utilization of financial benefits such as REB and pre-REB.
- Lead Tidewise's operational efforts in Belgium, including mobilization of the ROC and USVs, and manage interactions with local maritime authorities.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in maritime operations.
- Practical experience at sea, ideally as a qualified seafarer (STCW II/3).
- Strong understanding of USV regulations, ISM Code familiarity, and seafarer qualification standards.
- Proven experience with maritime classification societies (e.g., Lloyd’s Register, ABS, DNV, BV) and regulatory bodies.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and strategic planning capabilities.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
