Your Role

In this role, you'll spearhead the design, implementation, and management of our hiring partner's cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices. They're looking for an experienced engineer who can own their entire technical infrastructure stack, establish robust permission architectures, and work collaboratively with their staff backend engineers to architect scalable platforms. You'll be responsible for setting the foundation that enables their engineering team to build and deploy efficiently.

Responsibilities

- Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure across GCP and AWS environments

- Architect and manage Kubernetes clusters using best practices for scalability and reliability

- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform for consistent environment provisioning

- Establish and enforce IAM policies and permission structures across all platforms

- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to streamline deployment processes

- Set up and manage database infrastructure including CloudSQL, BigQuery, and Snowflake

- Configure and optimize event-driven architectures with Pub/Sub and data processing with Dataflow

- Collaborate with backend engineers to architect scalable and maintainable platform solutions

- Lead infrastructure initiatives and provide technical direction for infrastructure evolution

- Own and troubleshoot production infrastructure issues with minimal downtime

- Experience with infrastructure reporting and dashboarding for operational visibility

Required

- 8+ years of experience in DevOps or infrastructure engineering roles

- Strong experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration in production environments

- Extensive knowledge of infrastructure automation using Terraform

- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP required, AWS beneficial)

- Proficiency in managing CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions workflows

- Strong understanding of IAM and permissions architecture across cloud platforms

- Experience with database administration (CloudSQL, BigQuery, Snowflake)

- Solid understanding of networking, security, and infrastructure monitoring

- Experience with Helm charts for Kubernetes application deployment

- Excellent communication skills and ability to work across engineering teams

- Proven ability to take ownership of complex technical infrastructure

Bonus Skills

- Experience managing data processing systems like Dataflow and BigQuery

- Knowledge of monitoring tools like Datadog, and Cloud Monitoring

- Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)

- Familiarity with GitOps practices

- Experience with infrastructure cost optimization strategies

- Background in SRE practices

- Experience supporting machine learning infrastructure

- Knowledge of infrastructure security best practices and compliance

- Prior experience leading infrastructure initiatives at scale

Salary Range

60-90K USD annually
