We are now looking for a Deck Bosun/Basic who will work on board our vessels.

Job purpose

The Deck Bosun is responsible for all deck operations onboard the vessel. He ensures that all fishing gear and equipment, deck gear, and related spare parts are in functional order, all costs are within budget, and that the deck department is staffed with competent crew.

Responsibilities during operation

• Manage all deck personnel.
• Oversee trawl deck operations and ensure they are optimized during fishery activities.
• Ensure fishing and deck gear are operational and maintained.
• Order fishing and deck equipment using the purchasing system.
• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on fishing and deck gear.
• Follow up on the lubrication of deck equipment.
• Keep inventory records up to date.
• Create handover notes for the incoming Deck Bosun.

Safety responsibilities

• Be familiar with duties according to the station bill and muster lists for life rafts.
• Ensure safe operations on the trawl deck in collaboration with the Captain and Fish Mate.
• Secure areas and equipment during maintenance.
• Wear and enforce the use of safety equipment during deck operations.
• Comply with the company's HSE MS system, national and international rules, and regulations.
• Participate in drills such as MEDEVAC, oil pollution, firefighting, MOB, and abandon ship.
• Actively participate in HSE meetings and activities.

Location: Vessel

Travel and rotation

Crew changes are typically arranged in Montevideo, Punta Arenas, and Puerto Williams. Rotation is approximately 8 weeks on and off, subject to operational needs.
