Overview

As a Microsoft Data Center Technician (DCT), you will develop an understanding of standard processes and procedures for preparing, installing, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, replacing, and/or decommissioning equipment under the guidance of more experienced Data Center colleagues. This opportunity will allow you to develop an understanding of our Data Center environment, familiarize yourself with security and data management procedures, and accelerate your career growth.

As a CO+I DCT, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities
  • Response and Resolution: Contribute to issue tracking, participate in safety briefings, complete required training including safety procedures, and complete tickets efficiently while meeting KPIs and SLAs. Maintain client focus and contribute to a positive team environment. Receive guidance to understand standard processes for preparing, installing, troubleshooting, and decommissioning data center equipment. Review process change notifications and escalate compliance or operational issues.
Readiness
  • Learn effective execution strategies, prepare and perform hardware startups/shutdowns, and verify safety and deployment standards. Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting with guidance, replace faulty components, and escalate issues as needed. Participate in decommissions and simple infrastructure changes following standard procedures.
Product/Process Improvement
  • Seek guidance on client interactions, monitor KPIs, understand cross-functional processes, and complete training timely. Gain hands-on experience through on-the-job training and pursue relevant certifications.
Business Integration
  • Participate in safety and security training, follow procedures, and promote a safety culture. Support teamwork through information sharing and effective handovers. Report security concerns and incidents appropriately.
Physical Requirements
  • Climbing ladders, stairs, prolonged standing, occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs, and visual acuity requirements.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, with basic knowledge of computer hardware; or equivalent experience.
Additional Qualifications
  • Ability to pass Microsoft security screenings, with 1+ year supporting IT equipment preferred. Certifications like CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+ are a plus. Work schedule: Wednesday to Sunday, 1pm-10pm.
