Job Description:

The job involves providing technical support capacity to data center facilities and infrastructure globally. The candidate will help manage and maintain data center environments and assist with infrastructure configuration, and troubleshoot technical issues related to equipment and systems. Additionally, the incumbent will contribute to executing data center projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Data Center support and Infrastructure Engineer
- Leading major data center strategy and implementations, including architecture, design and major migrations
- Advising on Data Center best practices, governance, and compliance standards.
- Defining and optimizing Global data center operations including sustainability initiatives
- Engaging with senior stakeholders to align technical strategies with business goals.
- Represent the organization in discussions with vendors or external stakeholders on technical matters.
- Note: Engineer role is not expected to perform some technician level tasks.
Data Center support:
- Support the onsite data center and facilities including cabling of both data and power connections as well as maintain the Data Center ancillaries inside the rack (patching)
- Perform physical installation and de-installation of equipment, management and maintenance of cabling plant both fibre and copper, racks, PDUs; perform standard maintenance tasks and work instructions as per documented procedures
- Maintain the data center environmental conditions such as heating and cooling systems to ensure they are operational and can meet equipment temperature conditions
Infrastructure support:
- Participate in the installation and configuration of the infrastructure equipment, server hardware and network using the standard configuration and template as well as the resolution (incident and problem) of infrastructure related issues and requests
- Participate in the documentation and reporting for infrastructure operations as well as maintain accurate system configuration such as Asset Management, tools and physical inventory and any other documentations as required
- Maintain the housekeeping and stock management of materials and supplies (cables, parts, tools, etc.)
- Keep up to date documentation and inventory of equipment, tools, asset management (cabling layout, equipment layout, etc.)
- Liaise with UNICC technical teams and external providers on support activities, equipment deliveries and inventory, receive and inspect with vendors including escorting visits to the Data Center
- Other: The incumbent may be requested to provide support during weekends, holidays or outside working hours and serve as stand-by personnel on a rotation basis
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant IT work experience in supporting and/or operating enterprise data center environments and related services in a complex, heterogeneous environment.
- Expertise in data center standards i.e. ANSI/TIA/BICSI and best practices as well as environmental controls.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Data Center Infrastructure Operations and understanding of DC components such as HVAC, racks, connectivity, power, and structured cabling.
- Good knowledge of Data Center hardware (servers, network devices, backup hardware).
- Knowledge of cable testing procedures and equipment for copper and fibre optic cabling systems.
- Familiarity with configuring network equipment such as Cisco switches, network protocols e.g., TCP/IP, and virtualization technologies.
- Experience in automation, API management, DCIM tools, and basic Infrastructure as Code (IaC), scripting is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of ISO2000 Service Management Standards and other service management standards.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical documentation.
- Good knowledge of Data Center and network management tools.
Education and Certifications:
- Technical degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Data Center, Dell, HP, Cisco, ITIL, ISO) are highly desirable.
