FM is currently seeking an Engineer with process or loss prevention experience within the Chemical industry to join our South American Engineering Team. When not in the field, you will work remotely from your home office.

Joining us as a Consultant Engineer allows you to leverage your engineering background to help clients neutralize potential disasters — saving property and businesses. With nearly two centuries of knowledge and experience, you will work hands-on with some of the world’s most influential organizations, helping them understand risk and protect their assets.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Evaluate the integrity and reliability of equipment, identify hazards and deficiencies to deliver focused risk improvement solutions, and reduce equipment risk.
  2. Utilize operating standards, data sheets, and guides to provide risk guidance and implement best practices.
  3. Prepare engineering reports and loss expectancies to support risk improvement initiatives.
  4. Collaborate with Operations Engineering, Client Services, Account Management, and Underwriting on Boiler & Machinery recommendations.
  5. Manage your work independently from a home office with minimal supervision.
  6. This is a field-based role requiring travel to large, complex industrial client sites to evaluate operations and systems, identify risks, and hazards. Expected overnight travel is from 75 to 100 nights per year.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, or chemical).
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Based in the Sao Paulo area.
  • Experience in a high hazard industry, preferably in the Chemical sector.
  • Understanding of basic machinery and equipment, with hands-on exposure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in MS Office.
  • Analytical, organized, with good problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Results-driven with self-learning capabilities.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); Portuguese is preferred.
  • A valid B1/B2 USA visa is desirable.
