What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
- Review patient documentation to assign appropriate coding for services performed in various healthcare settings
- Ensure compliance with CPT, HCPCS, and ICD 10-CM coding guidelines
- Utilize standard query and clarification processes to maintain consistency between documentation and assigned codes
- Adhere to ethical coding standards as outlined by AHIMA and AAPC
- Occasionally travel to employer facilities as needed
What is Required (Qualifications)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility or health care business office
- Must have one of the following certifications: CPC, CPC-A, CCA, COC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT
- Associate degree in Health Information Management or Medical Coding Certificate is desired
- Applicants within 3 months of completing RHIT or RHIA program may meet experience requirements
- Must reside in WI, IA, or MN
