As a CLI Technician you will be responsible for routine maintenance and repair of CATV distribution system and for turn-on of new distribution system. Needs to be involved in system troubleshooting due to equipment and/or power failure.
How can you add value?
- Set trunk levels, sets-up and changes out trunk amplifiers, calculates signal level losses in cable and equipment for trunk lines and distribution lines.
- Install electronics and make power connections, balances and test battery loads and power supplies stand-by operations.
- Prepare and provide reports that align with FCC Regulations.
- Accurately uses stores and maintains all test equipment used in system.
- Responsible for project through to completion, including monitoring contractor progress up to and including processing of invoices from contractors to assure Company specifications are met.
- Assist and effect interface for required revisions to strand and design maps.
- Design and develop user interfaces to Internet/intranet applications by setting expectations and features priorities throughout development life cycle; resolve design methodologies and tool sets; complete programming using languages and software products; design and conduct tests.
- Lead projects and provides vision and technical direction to watch and ensure timely completion of projects by defining task scope and task lists, providing design mentorship, implementation and test plans, and other required coordination.
- Responsible for maintaining and keeping system maps for CLI and Construction purposes.
- Ride out for CLI detection and repairs leakages as establishes by company policy.
- Responsible for processing daily leakage reports and updating data in computer system.
- Climb poles, ladders, towers, and other structures as needed. Lift and carry loads of up to 150 lbs. using the appropriate lifting and moving equipment; drive and use bucket truck when required.
- Manipulate connectors, fasteners and wires and use hand tools.
- Drive Company vehicles and maintain accurate inventory of vehicle stock.
- Use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) provided by the company.
- Perform temporizations of feeder and trunk cable.
- Demonstrate and ensure compliance with The Customer 1st philosophy, Liberty Latin America Code of Conduct and Liberty safety standards and procedures.
- Other functions that may be assigned.
What do you need?
Education and/or Experience:
Associate degree or equivalent experience in Electronics, preferred.
3 years related of technical experience in the CATV industry.
Service as a Service Technician for two years.
SCTE Certification.
Other Qualifications:
- Good communication and positive interpersonal skills.
- Bilingual (Spanish and English).
- Should be available to execute standby shift and perform on call assignments or back up duties for the resolution of system outages, according to the department needs.
- Able to perform efficiently outages within a given timeframe.
- Available to assist in system outages after natural disasters such as hurricanes on 24/7 schedules, if needed.
- Availability to be moved from area of worked due to operational needs.
- Proven knowledge of CLI leakage requirements.
- Ability to perform position requirements safely and regularly at heights greater than 30 feet.
- Ability to carry, climb and operate extension ladder.
- Ability to climb poles using gaffs, hooks and climbing belt as needed.
- Ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires.
- Strive to make cable connections in tight spaces by bending, reaching, twisting and work with small components and wires.
- Ability to operate appropriate computer or test equipment associated with position (e.g. signal level meters, ohm meters, etc.).
- Ability to use the following hand tools: electric drills, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers and handheld communication devices and applications.
- Strive to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment, including gaffs, ladders, and fully loaded tool belts.
- Ability to splice coaxial cable.
- Knowledge of National Electrical Codes, FCC regulations and telecommunications transportation.
- Knowledge in Modems/PC Configuration.
- Domain in electrical and electronics.
- Good analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Computer-literate, knowledge in Microsoft Office.
- Dynamic, customer Focus and service oriented.
- Knowledge on Telecommunications, especially on cable, telephone, and Internet.
- Valid driver’s license, Cat 4
