Chief Financial Officer (m/f/d)*

MRdB is a fully-fledged subsidiary writing all lines of Non-Life, Life and Health business acting as a local reinsurer in the Brazilian market. The CFO manages a team with a headcount of around 20 employees and is responsible for all relevant Finance functions. The function reports to the CEO of MRdB and in a dotted-line to the RI CFO.

The successful candidate will be occupying a role providing excellent opportunity for development and growth to senior management level in a first-class international organization. In-/external training will be supported and provided where required. This opportunity enables the successful candidate to broaden their experience, gain exposure to many different areas of business and finance operations.

Your Job:

1. Managing and continuously developing especially integrated Accounting (IFRS and local GAAP), Controlling, Actuarial, Investments and Treasury teams on-site, continuing ongoing efforts to strengthen and streamline processes.
2. Involvement in client workshops, pitches and trainings, contributing with a CFO perspective to client deal teams.
3. Managing headquarter interfaces, i.e. with RI CFO, RIA, RIC, Central Reserving, CAP, GIM.
4. Assuming subsidiary perspective in financial and business controls, combination of management and legal view for MRdB.
5. Punctual and high quality delivery of reporting packages of MRdB to Munich, especially with respect to quarterly IFRS and Solvency II closing.
6. Timely delivery of local reporting demands, like biannual balance sheet publication, including external audits, monthly statutory reports to regulator and fulfilment of local tax requirements.
7. Proactively driving a successful implementation of group-wide projects, such as IFRS 17 and IFRS 9.
8. Securing ongoing fulfilment of local regulatory and capital requirements and meeting efficient capital position.
9. Driving process of an effective retrocession buying for all business lines with several involved retrocession partners.
10. Offering strategic consultancy for headquarter and local management by presenting transparency on value drivers and VBM-based portfolio steering and contributing to operational decision-making.
11. Managing and challenging strategic and annual Planning.
12. Steering of local actuarial functions for MRdB and securing adequacy of reserves in local and IFRS view.
13. Tracking of organisational development and monitoring an efficient primary cost structure, searching for potential cost savings.
14. Tracking of strategic initiatives and business opportunities supporting top- and bottom-line objectives and given target ambitions.
15. Representing MRdB in CFO-related matters to regulatory and tax authorities, local and external auditors.
16. Managing Finance, Regulatory and Legal tasks for the MRM admitted license in Brazil.

Your Profile:

1. Experienced professional with excellent influencing and interpersonal skills and strong sense of collaboration.
2. Global mindset, ability to navigate in international environment and build solid relationships.
3. Thorough knowledge in IFRS standards (especially with respect to reinsurance and investment accounting) as well as in controlling, actuarial, taxation, corporate finance and regulatory topics.
4. Experience in a local GAAP accounting (ideally Brazilian GAAP) is desirable.
5. Excellent analytical, conceptual and project management skills.
6. Very high degree of self-organisation and reliability.
7. High degree of motivation, initiative and drive for excellence.
8. Confidence and diplomacy to challenge peers, auditors and manage upwards, striving for best solutions.
9. Business-fluent spoken and written English; Portuguese would be an advantage.
