We are now looking for a Chief Engineer who will work on board our vessels in Antarctica

As the Chief Engineer, you will oversee all technical operations within our organization. You will be responsible for leading the engine department, managing projects, and ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of our equipment and facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background as a Chief Engineer, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of success in similar roles. The Chief Engineer is overall responsible for all technical installations onboard the vessel, including R&M and spare parts management, while ensuring costs are maintained at or below budget.

Other responsibilities will include:
  • Leading and managing the engine department, providing guidance, mentoring, and support to achieve project goals.
  • Overseeing the design, development, and implementation of engineering projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Managing the maintenance and repair of equipment and infrastructure, optimizing efficiency and minimizing downtime.
  • Collaborating with other departments to support company objectives and initiatives.
  • Developing strategies to improve operational performance and reduce costs.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a safety culture within the engine department.
Your profile

Are you the Chief Engineer we’re looking for?

The right candidate has experience from shipping or fishing companies, is structured and systematic yet flexible, and has a positive, can-do attitude. You are motivated to respond in a 24/7/365 operation.

Qualifications:
  • Engineer Officer Class 1, CoC M1
  • Medical Certificate
  • Safety Course for officers
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Chief Engineer
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficient in project management software and tools
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
Location:

Vessel/Antarctica

Travel and rotation

Rotations are approximately 8 weeks on and off, with crew changes in Montevideo, Punta Arenas, and Puerto Williams. Deviations may occur due to operational needs.
