Requirements include:

1. Complete higher education in Nautical Sciences.
2. Mandatory courses such as STCW III/2, CIR 1OM, Basic Safety Course (TBS-1), Survival and Rescue Vessels Course (EESS), Advanced Firefighting Course (ECIA), First Aid Course (EPSM), GMDSS Radio Operator Course (EROG), Management Course for Officers (EGPM), Ship Protection Officer Course (EOPN), and DP certification (DP Técnico or DPVM).
