Job Description

As a Carpenter, you are responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard using carpenter's hand tools and power tools.

What you will be doing:

• Carry out maintenance and repair works as required
• Perform day-to-day maintenance within the hotel building where carpentry problems occur
• Fix shelving and cabinet constructions
• Repair door locks, security items, windows, and glazing
• Operate partition woodworking machinery and handle minimal general building tasks
• Remove damaged or defective parts of structures and repair or replace them using hand tools
• Finish surfaces of woodwork or wallboard in buildings, using paint, hand tools, and paneling
• Fill cracks and defects in plaster or plasterboard, then sand and patch
• Follow all technical regulations and safety standards of the country
• Operate safely and environmentally friendly to protect guests’ and employees’ health and safety, and the environment
• Comply with hotel environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in the position
• Experience in the hospitality industry is preferred
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
• Highly responsible and reliable
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
• Experience in the field is a strong asset

Physical Aspects of Position (including but not limited to):

• Constant standing and walking throughout shift
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs
• Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps
