Role Overview

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and delivery of BI solutions in Amazon's complex marketplace environment. The ideal candidate is self-starting, highly analytical, comfortable with deep dives into data, and capable of making data-driven decisions with strong business acumen. You will manage competing priorities, set up BI roadmaps, and ensure delivery, directly impacting data-driven decision-making and business success.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Learn and understand Amazon’s diverse data resources and their optimal usage.
  2. Collaborate with teams to understand business challenges and provide data analysis for improved decision-making.
  3. Design and develop reports and metrics to track business and product success.
  4. Build self-service reporting platforms and automate large-scale data analysis processes.
  5. Write high-quality SQL queries for data retrieval and analysis.
  6. Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) data to create reporting solutions.
  7. Manage local data infrastructure and coordinate with global teams to ensure data consistency and accuracy.

About the Team

The LATAM Marketplace BI team ensures stakeholders and leaders have the data needed for informed decisions. The team is organized into verticals, promoting weekly knowledge sharing. BI Engineers may oversee one or more business verticals, managing end-to-end BI projects, including roadmap setup, stakeholder management, deep data analysis, and building SQL tables, KPIs, reports, dashboards, and analyses.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience analyzing and interpreting data using Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Quicksight, or similar.
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and ETL pipeline development.
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis packages like R, SAS, or Matlab.
  • SQL scripting and Python experience for data processing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift.
  • Experience with data mining, ETL processes, and handling large, complex datasets in a business environment.
