We are a small, passionate, and agile team with a strong mission to improve the veterinary industry through innovative technology.

About the role

We are seeking a talented Back-end Developer to join CoVet and play a pivotal role in building and scaling our platform. You will design, develop, and maintain our backend systems on Google Cloud and Firebase, implement server-side logic in Node.js, manage and optimize Firestore databases, and create robust RESTful APIs. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with the front-end and product teams to deliver new features, power our internal admin dashboard, and ensure our infrastructure is secure, efficient, and scalable.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain CoVet’s backend infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Firebase.
• Implement robust server-side logic using Cloud Functions in Node.js.
• Manage and optimize Firestore databases, ensuring efficient, scalable, and secure data structures.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations with third-party services to enhance platform capabilities.
• Collaborate in building and maintaining the internal admin dashboard to empower CoVet’s internal team.
• Implement backend services that power dashboard features, ensuring reliability and performance.
• Work closely with the front-end development team to ensure backend capabilities align seamlessly with UI/UX requirements.
• Partner with the product team to define and refine technical requirements for new features, ensuring feasibility and scalability from day one.
• Coordinate deployment processes for new features, managing dependencies between front-end and back-end components.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in back-end development, preferably with Node.js and serverless architectures.
• Proficiency in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, especially Firebase and Firestore.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design, integration patterns, and authentication methods.
• Experience with database optimization, indexing strategies, and data modeling.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control (Git).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with admin dashboard frameworks or custom dashboard development.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for deploying serverless applications.
• Understanding of security best practices in cloud-based environments.
