The Role
We are looking for a Senior Internal Auditor – Business, based in our São Paulo office, to help drive our Internal Audit efforts in Brazil. This role will be instrumental in delivering independent, objective assurance over business processes, supporting the development of our internal audit function locally, and ensuring alignment with global internal audit standards and the Group audit strategy.
Reporting to the Group Internal Auditor (who is responsible for leading the Group’s 3rd line of defence oversight and audit function), the Senior Auditor, Brazil will play a key role in the development, management and design of the Group Internal Audit framework and function. This role will initially support the establishment of the Internal Audit function and framework, based on independent Internal Audit risk assessment. This role will then involve mapping out local entity obligations that will sit under this and determine the Internal Audit approach to be taken.
You’ll partner closely with our Group Internal Audit team and stakeholders across first and second lines of defence, conducting audits that cover our financial, operational, and regulatory compliance risks. You’ll also contribute to strengthening our control environment as we grow in complexity and scale.
The Senior Auditor, Brazil will be responsible for all aspects of audit design, planning, fieldwork/testing, and reporting and all stages of the end-to-end delivery across the Bank’s unit. The individual will be required to collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with regulations and policies and may also assist in developing policies and procedures to mitigate risk and enhance internal controls.

The successful candidate will be required to:
Lead and participate in the end-to-end planning, fieldwork, and reporting of business and operational audit assignments, assessing the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls.
Support the creation and execution of the annual and multi-year internal audit plans based on risk assessments.
Analyze and evaluate business processes and controls, leveraging data, documentation, and stakeholder input.
Identify meaningful issues impacting business and operations under review, challenging management to develop appropriate remedial action to address the issues identified.
Prepare clear and concise audit reports with actionable findings and risk-rated recommendations for management review.
Present audit findings to local and regional management, promoting a culture of risk awareness and continuous improvement.
Help track internal audit findings remediation efforts to ensure robust, effective, and timely implementations with the respective documented evidence.
Meet internal deadlines to ensure timely assurance is provided.
Collaborate with global internal audit teams to ensure consistent methodologies, reporting, and quality standards.
Contribute to the mapping of local entity regulatory and compliance obligations, ensuring appropriate audit coverage.
Act as a trusted advisor to the business, providing insight and challenge to enhance risk management practices.
Be a critical friend, build, maintain, and proactively manage and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders and participate in continuous monitoring activities.
Maintain ongoing awareness of emerging risks, local regulations, and industry trends affecting fintech banking and payments businesses in Brazil and Global.
Candidate Profile
This is a true business-partnering role, and the individual should have the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and feel comfortable challenging norms and enabling change. The ability to exercise good judgement, determine the appropriate course of action and execute decisions in the face of imperfect information is vital.
The successful candidate must be a highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently. The ideal candidate would have Brazil Internal/External Audit experience.
Required:
An ability to know, understand, interpret varying regulation principles in Brazil.
Understanding and experience of auditing in at least one of the core business areas or support banking functions, (e.g. Payments, Corporate, High Net Worth clients, Finance, Financial Crime).
Auditing in the banking, fintech, payments sector, or within financial services consultancy from a Big 4 is strongly preferred.
Between 4 to 6 years’ experience of Accounting / Audit firm experience.
Fluent in Portuguese and proficient in English (written and spoken).
Skills:
Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
Highly capable, working with diverse stakeholders to drive execution.
Strength in operating from strategy to “in the weeds” detail and analytics.
Presents strong expertise, decisiveness, and humility in areas of uncertainty.
Ability to communicate and educate teams on the importance of Internal Audit and the value of a 3rd line of defence.
Education:
Degree in Business, Accountancy, or in other relevant Economics and Management fields.
Data analytics skills and familiarity with audit tools (e.g., ACL, IDEA, or Power BI).
Financial Services Industry / Banking / Fintech certification desirable.
Postgraduate studies a plus.
