Our client is a leading multinational technology company that operates across digital entertainment, e-commerce, and digital financial services sectors.

The position

We are seeking a diligent and proactive Associate Counsel to join our legal team in Brazil. The successful candidate will focus on compliance matters related to blue-collar workers. This role involves ensuring that the company adheres to labor laws and regulations, implementing compliance programs, and providing legal support on employment-related issues.

Responsibilities

Compliance Management:

  1. Develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs related to blue-collar workforce regulations.
  2. Ensure the company adheres to all relevant labor laws and employment regulations in Brazil.
  3. Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments.

Policy Development:

  1. Draft, review, and update internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  2. Advise management on the implications of new and existing labor laws.

Training and Education:

  1. Provide training to management and employees on compliance issues and ethical conduct.
  2. Develop educational materials and conduct workshops to promote a culture of compliance.

Legal Support:

  1. Provide legal advice on employment-related issues, including hiring, termination, workplace safety, and employee relations.
  2. Handle and resolve labor disputes and grievances.
  3. Represent the company in negotiations, mediations, and proceedings before labor courts and regulatory agencies.

Documentation and Reporting:

  1. Prepare and maintain documentation related to compliance activities and labor relations.
  2. Generate reports on compliance status and issues for senior management.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  1. Work closely with HR, operations, and other departments to ensure cohesive compliance practices.
  2. Liaise with external legal counsel and regulatory authorities as needed.
Requirements
  1. Law degree from an accredited law school and active membership with a state Bar association.
  2. Postgraduate qualifications in Law, Compliance, or related fields are a plus.
  3. Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in compliance or employment law, preferably with a focus on blue-collar workforce issues.
  4. Experience in a corporate legal department or law firm is desirable.
  5. Familiarity with Brazilian labor laws and regulations.
  6. Strong knowledge of compliance and employment law in Brazil.
  7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
  9. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  10. Proficiency in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken.
