About the role

The Team: This position is for the Americas Gas team, with team members in Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Brazil. We are part of the Research and Analytics Solutions business line that includes analysts from Upstream, Oil, Fuel and Chemicals, Gas and LNG, Power and Renewables, Agriculture and Metals, and Shipping.

Responsibilities and Impact

The focus of this position is on gas markets across Latin American and Caribbean gas markets, to provide quantitative and qualitative research, create regular and stand-alone reports, and support local events for a wide client base from across the energy value chain.

Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate, model, and analyze natural gas market fundamentals including supply, demand, prices, transportation of natural gas and low carbon gases in region of focus.
  • Articulate insights that affect the gas markets in region of focus through written regular reports, emails, webinars, briefings and in-person or virtual presentations to customers
  • Collect information, maintain databases and in-house models in a time-effective way.
  • Contribute to standalone projects as required and as driven by business needs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients to understand their needs in addition to ensuring they know the capabilities of S&P Global Commodity Insights.
What We’re Looking For

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English and the ability to communicate in Spanish and/or Portuguese.
  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably Engineering or Economics, or equivalent experience.
  • Comfortable with Generative AI technologies and able to leverage these tools for innovative solutions.
  • Two to three years of working experience in areas related to the energy sector is appreciated, preferably in roles associated to operations, energy efficiency, low-carbon energy, or sustainable practices.
  • Team player with an ability to work independently with and without deadlines and prioritizing a complex workload.
  • Self-motivated and driven to develop new ideas and insights.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment providing ideas and open feedback.
  • Comfortable with client presentations.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proactive, able to learn quickly, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Significant comfort level with suite of Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint Excel, Power BI).
  • Experience with Python, SQL.
