The Actuarial Manager leads the Actuarial & Performance Management department of Munich Re Brazil, reporting to the local CFO and working in close collaboration with other finance functions and business units to execute, monitor and oversee the following process: local GAAP reserving (both Life & Non-life), technical performance management, capital and solvency requirements, retrocession and financial planning. You will support the local management in the analysis and forecasting of different aspects of the operation, serving as a valuable asset to the company’s strategic decision process.
You will also be in close relationship with the Munich Re Group Headquarters in Munich and other relevant Hub’s, engaging in global initiatives and projects, as well as collaborating with other local internal stakeholders, such as Underwriting, Client Management, Claims, Risk Management and other Finance departments.
YOUR JOB
Actively contribute to the development of Munich Re do Brasil operation by:
- Act as a strategic partner to local management, providing the local board of directors with relevant information regarding to the performance of the subsidiary and it’s solvency position, through the preparation of qualitative and quantitative analysis and reports.
- Engage in multi-disciplinary strategic projects in collaboration with other business units offering an actuarial perspective of the business.
- Be the focal point in Brazil for reserving, IFRS17, retrocession and capital management topics, acting in close collaboration with other departments of Munich Re Group Headquarters in Munich.
- Participating in projects aiming towards the improved efficiency of internal processes through the application of automatization techniques or designing new processes.
- Ensure the correct calculation of Local GAAP technical provisions through adequate methodologies and process, performing quality assurance to guarantee the accuracy of data, process and calculations.
- Work in close cooperation with accounting team to ensure correct booking of technical reserves during the monthly local closings.
- Manage a team of 2 actuaries, performing the review and quality assurance of the calculations/analysis produced by them
- Perform the Capital Planning process, monitoring the capital and solvency requirements and projecting the relevant variables involved, anticipating the company's financial health in the short, medium and long-term. Support the definition of the capital structure of the subsidiary, including the definition and placement of the retrocession program.
- Attending to the external auditors and local regulator (SUSEP), defining and implementing action plans to mitigate risks in the actuarial department.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and regulatory reports.
YOUR PROFILE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, with active Brazilian Institute of Actuaries certification (MIBA) or similar international actuarial certification.
- Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
- Experienced professional with background in reserving and regulatory requirements of (re)insurance companies, or experience in actuarial consulting/audit firm.
- Previous experience with IFRS 17 and Solvency II is a plus.
- Expertise in MS-Office, particularly Excel, as well as familiarity with the use of programming languages (R, Python, VBA).
- Strong analytical, communication and collaboration skills.

- Interested in supporting the team in creating solutions for both internal stakeholders as well as business partners.
