Our industry-leading life insurance consulting team is seeking a Director to join the team in Bermuda to drive account development, identify areas for revenue growth, and lead high-performing client delivery teams. In this role, you will work across a range of engagements including financial modeling, financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory issues, litigation, pricing, and product development. The ideal candidate will possess proven expertise in various aspects of life or annuity product design and pricing, distribution, financial modeling, asset liability management (ALM), regulatory developments, and financial risk. The Role
- Partner with senior sellers to identify new business opportunities and drive account proposals
- Contribute to the growth of WTW’s Bermuda presence through frequent interaction with local clients, active participation in industry-led events, and monitoring regulatory updates
- Lead components of large-scale projects or manage smaller projects to achieve engagement and budget objectives
- Build and strengthen industry relationships by serving as a trusted advisor, delivering strategic insights and tailored solutions to clients
- Oversee and guide junior team members, ensuring high-quality work that conforms with WTW Excellence standards
- Share expertise and strategic insights with colleagues to drive team growth and contribute to overall business development
- Provide mentorship and coaching to junior staff, supporting their professional development and career advancement
- Conduct thorough peer reviews ensuring high-quality work that conforms with WTW Excellence standards
- Lead client communications through clear and impactful written and verbal channels, addressing concerns and managing expectations effectively
- Contribute to the development of intellectual capital through research, publications, industry events, and WTW webinars, podcasts, etc.
- Support revenue growth by meeting billable hour expectations and generating new business both individually and as part of client relationship teams
- Maintain professional credentials by completing SOA Continuing Education (CE) requirements
Qualifications
The Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in an actuarial role at a life insurance company, consulting firm, or financial services organization
- Familiarity with regulatory capital regimes; experience with Bermuda is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to drive business development through relationships and intellectual curiosity to identify strategic opportunities
- Deep expertise in ALM, financial risk and capital management, life and annuity product design, reinsurance and structuring, and financial modeling
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey findings, recommendations, and work products
- Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for technical and non-technical audiences
- Effective collaboration across disciplines and work styles, with a willingness to share knowledge
- Leadership experience in managing and directing teams with varying experience levels
- Strong technical proficiency in programming languages (e.g., VBA, SQL, Python, R) and/or financial modeling software (e.g., GGY AXIS, Risk Agility, MG-ALFA, Moses, Prophet, Slope, Polysystems)
- Expertise in at least one life insurance and/or annuity product line, preferably asset-intensive products
- Expertise in functional areas such as predictive analytics/data science, experience studies, financial reporting, modeling, M&A, product development/pricing, and risk management
- Self-motivated, proactive learner passionate about new developments
- Ability and willingness to coach and mentor junior colleagues
- Skill in developing engagement strategies and translating them into actionable plans
- Prior experience in client-facing consulting or business development is a plus
- Prior experience in the Bermuda life insurance market is a plus
- Strong multitasking abilities, managing multiple projects and clients effectively
- Flexibility to put in extra effort to meet deadlines when necessary
- FSA or equivalent credential (e.g., FIA)
