Position Overview

NESsT Is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting & Finance Associate to join our team in Brazil. The role will provide operational support for NESsT’s
financial and accounting processes, helping ensure the organization meets its compliance obligations and maintains
reliable and timely
financial records.
This position will report to the CFO, with a second report line to the Brazil Country Director

KeyResponsibilities

  • Accurate and timely financial support, including local financial reporting and payment coordination with Brazil Director and Global Finance Team, as well as monthly local and global financial reports.
  • Main point of contact during financial audits of the Brazilian entity, providing the auditing team and BR team with full support as needed.
  • Coordination of payments with local and regional vendors and team members (reimbursements, stipends, etc.).
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budget analyses in close partnership with the external accounting firm.
  • Record transactions and maintain accounting records in the accounting system.
  • Perform
    monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Support the payroll process and ensure correct application of social security and labor charges in close partnership with the external accounting firm.
  • Ensure compliance with Brazilian tax obligations and deadlines, including:
  • INSS (social security
    contributions)
  • IRRF (withholding income tax)
  • ISS (municipal service
    tax)
  • FGTS (severance
    fund)
  • RAIS, DIRF, and
    eSocial
    reporting
  • Coordinate with external accounting and payroll providers.
  • Maintain organized and confidential financial files and documentation.
  • Assist with the implementation of internal financial controls and process improvements.
  • Prepare supporting documents and respond to external audit requests.
  • Provide administrative support related to employee onboarding (e.g., opening bank accounts, life insurance registration).
  • Stay up to date with local accounting and labor regulations.
  • Support ad hoc financial tasks and assist the CFO, Global Controller, and Brazil Director as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Administration, or related field (technical or university-level).
  • 2–5 years of experience in accounting or financial operations.
  • Solid experience and domain of Excel.
  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks is a plus).
  • Solid understanding of Brazilian accounting principles and tax legislation, specially
    regarding non-profit organizations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with confidential information.
  • Proactive, communicative, and able to work independently and under pressure.
  • High standards of integrity, ethics, and responsibility.
  • Native Portuguese speaker with advanced verbal and written English skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy and adaptability to new technologies, including experience with Microsoft Office, online tools, CRM systems (including Salesforce), and ERP.
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness, and innovation in small, dynamic, international nonprofit settings with limited resources.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience working with nonprofit organizations or third-sector entities.
  • Familiarity with labor law obligations and benefits administration in Brazil.

and Hours

  • Remote work arrangement from São Paulo, with access to coworking space when available.
  • Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (1-hour lunch break).
  • Occasional meetings, trainings, or international calls may occur outside regular hours due to NESsT’s global structure.
