Job summary

Private Advertiser in Brazil’s North Region seeks a dedicated Science Laboratory Assistant for a two-year contract. You will prepare resources for science teaching, set up equipment, and assist with lessons.

The role requires O-Level qualification, 2+ years’ experience, strong Excel skills and teamwork. You’ll organize stock, supervise live specimens, and support the Science Department across labs and events.

Qualifications

• GCE O-Level or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years as Science Laboratory Assistant or Laboratory Technician.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel with good data handling skills.
• Strong teamwork; able to organise work, adapt to changing needs and multitask.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organise resources for Science teaching and learning.
• Assist teachers with experiment setups and resource distribution/clearing.
• Set up and operate ICT and Science equipment (projectors, iPads, dataloggers, microscopes).
• Conduct annual inventory checks and stocktakes for resources and equipment in two Science Laboratories and TinkerSpace; update records.
• Organise, label and maintain storage of Science resources and equipment; maintain cleanliness and safety.
• Assist with simple Science enrichment activities during recess and school events, including animal life-cycle displays and creative toys.
• Support resource loans and annual stocktakes for Science programmes (Science Sparkles and E2K-Ignite).
• Feed and maintain mealworm beetles, stick insect enclosure and other live specimens used for learning.
• Perform other Science-related duties to support the Science Department.

Job description

Contract Period: 4 January 2027 to 31 December 2028.

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:

• Mondays to Fridays: 7:30am to 2:30pm, inclusive of a 30-minute lunch break.
• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays, gazetted public holidays or March, June, September and November/December school holidays, unless specified by the school.

Requirements:

• At least GCE O-Level qualification.
• At least two years of experience as a Science Laboratory Assistant or Laboratory Technician.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to organise work, adapt to changing needs and multitask.
