Job description

Responsibilities:

1. The Master has overriding authority to take necessary actions for the safety and security of the crew, vessel, or environment.
2. Review the safety management system periodically and report deficiencies to shore management.
3. Ensure all statutory certifications are valid and maintained.
4. Motivate the crew to comply with the safety management system and refer to the 'Forms list' for guidance.
5. Act as tug manager, coordinate crew attendance, and ensure operational readiness.
6. Comply with SVITZER's health, safety, environment, security, and cyber security procedures.
7. Be familiar with relevant OH&S, environmental, and security regulations and report as appropriate.
8. Manage tug crew discipline, address issues, and escalate when necessary.
9. Supervise and assist with tug maintenance as needed.
10. Prepare operational reports when required.
11. Participate in safety and operational training, including training other crew members and visitors.
12. Engage in safety improvement initiatives and liaise with management on operational procedures.
13. Ensure availability of resources for onboard activities.
14. Comply with all applicable legislation.
15. If necessary, discharge crew members who pose a risk, with prior notification to shore management and ensuring replacement if required.
16. Adhere to company safety management system regulations.

• II/3 - Master less than 500GT – NCV
• Basic Safety Training (STCW A-VI/1)
• Proficiency in Medical Care On Board Ship (STCW Code A-VI/4-2)
• Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat (STCW A-VI/2)
• Advanced Fire Fighting (STCW A-VI/3)
• Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (A-VI/6)
• Valid Seafarer Medical Certificate
