Senior Librarian

The role of a Senior Librarian is to manage and oversee the daily operations of a library, ensuring that all resources are properly maintained and accessible to patrons. This position requires strong organizational and leadership skills, as well as a deep knowledge of library systems and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train library staff members, including librarians, assistants, and volunteers
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for the library's collection, circulation, and services
• Maintain an inventory of books, periodicals, digital resources, and other materials in the library's collection
• Catalogue new materials and ensure that they are properly shelved and organized
• Assist patrons with locating materials and using library resources effectively
• Plan and promote educational programs, events, and workshops for library patrons
• Collaborate with schools, community organizations, and other institutions to expand the reach of the library's services
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in librarianship
• Manage the library's budget, including purchasing new materials as needed
• Ensure that the library is clean, organized, and welcoming to all visitors

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
• At least 5 years of experience working in a library setting
• Strong leadership skills with proven experience managing staff members
