Job summary

NASS Group & Corporation in Bahrain seeks a Senior Electrical Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for electrical works across infrastructure, high-rise, and mixed-use projects. You will provide expert input during tendering, assess risks, and develop cost-effective solutions ensuring compliance with EWA, EDD, and local codes.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical estimating and construction.
  • Experience across infrastructure, high-rise buildings, commercial developments, industrial projects, mixed-use developments, and multidisciplinary construction.
  • Minimum 10 years of GCC experience is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of electrical quantity take-offs, rate build-ups, and cost estimation.

Responsibilities

  • Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and scopes of work to establish project requirements.
  • Analyze tender documentation to identify technical, commercial, contractual, and execution risks.
  • Identify missing, conflicting, or unclear information and raise appropriate tender clarifications.
  • Attend tender clarification meetings, site visits, and pre-tender meetings as required.
  • Prepare detailed electrical quantity take-offs covering materials, manpower, equipment, subcontract works, testing, commissioning, and associated costs.
  • Develop accurate and competitive cost estimates based on project requirements, construction methodology, market conditions, and historical cost data.
  • Calculate direct and indirect project costs, including manpower, plant and equipment, temporary works, testing and commissioning, preliminaries, overheads, and other applicable costs.
  • Review electrical designs for technical compliance, constructability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure estimates and technical proposals comply with EWA, EDD, local authority requirements, applicable electrical codes, and relevant industry standards.
  • Assess tender requirements and identify technical deviations, exclusions, qualifications, and compliance concerns.
  • Obtain and evaluate competitive quotations from suppliers, manufacturers, subcontractors, and specialist vendors.
  • Review supplier and subcontractor quotations for technical and commercial compliance.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing, commercial terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, subcontractors, clients, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify financial, technical, procurement, and execution risks associated with tender submissions.
  • Develop appropriate risk mitigation measures, contingencies, and pricing strategies.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and alternative solutions that optimize project costs without compromising quality, safety, performance, or functionality.
  • Monitor market trends, material costs, labor rates, and pricing fluctuations that may impact project estimates.
  • Maintain and update estimation databases, supplier pricing, rate build-ups, and historical cost information.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical and commercial tender submissions within required deadlines.
  • Provide technical and commercial recommendations to management regarding bid strategy, pricing, risks, and opportunities.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as directed by the General Manager - Estimation & Technical Services

The role provides expert technical and commercial input throughout the tendering process, supporting the company's business development objectives by ensuring tender submissions are commercially viable, technically sound, competitive, and compliant with client requirements, EWA, EDD, local authority regulations, and applicable industry standards. The position also evaluates project risks and opportunities, develops cost-effective solutions, and contributes to value engineering and bidding strategies that support project profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications Skill, & Experience
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical estimating and the construction industry
  • Experience across infrastructure, high-rise buildings, commercial developments, industrial projects, mixed-use developments, and multidisciplinary construction projects
  • Minimum 10 years of GCC experience is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, installations, and construction methodologies
  • Strong working knowledge of EWA and EDD regulations and requirements
  • Expert knowledge of electrical quantity take-offs, rate build-ups, and cost estimation
  • Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes, standards, specifications, and authority requirements
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate engineering drawings, specifications, BOQs, and tender documentation
  • Strong understanding of procurement, supplier evaluation, subcontracting, and tendering processes
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to assess risks, opportunities, and pricing strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in relevant estimating and Microsoft Office applications
  • CRPEP certification is preferred
