Overview
As Senior Accountant, you’ll oversee key aspects of Playbook’s financial operations, from day-to-day accounting to financial reporting and compliance. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, supporting strategic decision-making, and keeping the business aligned with best practices in finance.
You’ll collaborate across departments and provide timely insights that help drive efficiency, manage risk, and support our growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Manage journal entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end close activities
- Ensure timely and accurate financial data entry and reporting
- Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support in building and updating financial models and forecasts
- Track departmental budgets and provide variance analysis
- Assist in aligning budget planning with OKRs and strategic goals
- Help develop cash flow forecasts and maintain visibility on runway
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations
- Oversee VAT filings, audits, and internal control processes
- Maintain documentation and prepare for external audits
- Identify areas for control improvements and process efficiency
Expense & Procurement Oversight
- Monitor company expenses and procurement workflows
- Support payroll processing, vendor payments, and reimbursements
- Evaluate spending against ROI and strategic priorities
- Maintain records of contracts, payments, and outstanding receivables/payables
Cross-Functional Support
- Collaborate with departments to track and report budget usage
- Support finance-related planning for events, campaigns, and projects
- Translate financial data into reports for non-finance stakeholders
- Ensure operational finance tools and workflows are optimized
What You Bring
- 4+ years in accounting, finance operations, or FP&A
- Deep knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills and experience with Xero, QuickBooks, or similar systems
- High attention to detail and a process improvement mindset
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience in startups or fast-paced environments is a plus
- Fluent in English; Arabic is a bonus
