Job summary

FamilyFirst Qatar seeks a Part-Time Librarian for our Dar Kulaib library. The role entails assisting patrons, organizing materials, and supporting programs with a flexible 20-hour weekly schedule, including evenings or weekends.

The salary is $1700 per month, and accommodation is not provided. A Bachelor's in Library Science and at least 1 year of library experience are preferred, with strong customer service and organizational skills essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 1 year experience working in a library setting.
Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
Knowledge of library systems and technology such as automated check-out systems and online databases.
Familiarity with cataloging practices and the Dewey Decimal System.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Assist patrons with finding books, magazines, and other materials
Check in and out library materials using an automated system
Answer reference questions and provide research assistance
Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the library
Create displays to promote new books or themes
Plan and lead educational programs such as book clubs or story time for children
Process new materials by cataloging, labeling, and shelving them
Keep track of overdue materials and send out notices to patrons
Assist with collection development by suggesting new titles or weeding out outdated materials
