Job summary

athGADLANG is seeking a hands-on Compliance Officer and MLRO in Bahrain to maintain regulatory standing and act as the primary liaison with the Central Bank of Bahrain. The role is a single-person assignment with direct accountability to the Board.

The post-holder will own the AML/CFT framework, manage regulatory reporting, and ensure timely remediation of any issues, while continuing to uphold licence conditions and approvals.

Qualifications

• Arabic: fluent written and spoken with professional English.
• Proven CO/MLRO experience within a CBB-licensed institution.
• Hands-on AML/CFT programme ownership: risk assessment, CDD/EDD, screening, monitoring and STRs.
• Direct handling of CBB returns, regulatory correspondence and inspections.
• Available to start at short notice and commit to a renewable 3-month engagement.

Responsibilities

• Act as the firm's registered Compliance Officer and MLRO and primary contact with the Central Bank of Bahrain.
• Maintain the licence in good standing, including conditions, notifications and approved-person records.
• Notify the CBB of material events, changes in controllers or controlled functions, and required approvals.
• Manage regulatory correspondence, information requests, inspections and remediation items through to closure.
• Own the AML/CFT framework and keep policies, procedures and risk assessments up to date.
• Perform customer due diligence and ongoing monitoring appropriate to a firm with limited or no new business.
• Operate sanctions and PEP screening and escalate alerts.
• File Suspicious Transaction Reports with FIU as required.
• Deliver AML/CFT awareness training to staff and directors with records.
