Job summary

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts EMEA is seeking a Maintenance Engineer specialized in air conditioning and refrigeration to maintain and repair hotel HVAC systems across meetings and guest areas.

The role involves performing preventive maintenance, assisting in overhaul projects, responding to faults, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures and hotel policies.

Responsibilities

  • Attends daily start of shift briefings.
  • Carries out professional and prompt servicing of Chillers, Air Handling units, Fan Coil Units, Freezers, Cold Rooms, Ice Cube machines and all other refrigeration equipment as assigned by the Engineering Supervisor as part of the departmental Planned Preventative Maintenance programme.
  • Assists the Engineering Supervisor to plan & carry out a full overhaul of AC plant and equipment during winter months.
  • Attends to all AC or refrigeration equipment repairs as per the daily assignment sheet.
  • Checks all chillers and air handling units on a daily basis. Proactively identifies defective equipment and carries out prompt repairs as needed. Updates Engineering Supervisor on a daily basis in regards to repairs needed, completed or scheduled.
  • Checks the temperatures achieved of all kitchen freezers, fridges & ice cube machines at the times specified by the engineering Supervisor on a daily basis. Investigates and adjusts if any unit is not achieving the optimum temperature as set and advised by the Engineering Supervisor.
  • Completes the daily temperature log sheet for freezers, fridges & ice cube machines and hands over to the Engineering Supervisor at end of shift for his information and records.
  • Repairs ACs in guest bedrooms or other areas as per assigned service requests.
  • Checks with the HK Supervisor to access guest rooms where repair work is required.
  • Ensures to work in a clean and tidy manner at all times when assigned to carry out repairs in guest or public areas. Uses protective cloths to prevent damage to surrounding areas.
  • Responsible to clean any dirt or mess created due to repair work before leaving the area.
  • Does not leave guest rooms open or unattended at any time when assigned to carry out work in rooms.
  • Greets & interacts with guests in a warm, polite and friendly manner at every point of contact.
  • Checks function sheets upon commencing duty and ensures that ACs are turned on in meeting venues a minimum of 2 hours prior to the start time of event.
  • Informs the Engineering Supervisor of any uncompleted work before leaving duty. Stays to complete assigned work whenever requested or instructed to do so by the Supervisor.
  • Prepares a monthly status report on all plant & equipment and submits to the Engineering Supervisor for his information and advice
  • Keeps all tools & equipment safe and secure. Returns to the designated area at end of shift.
  • Forms part of the hotels emergency team. Under the guidance of the Engineering Supervisor must be fully aware of, and fully trained in, all aspects of the hotels Fire, Evacuation & Crisis Management Manual procedures and adhere to them at all times.
  • Responds immediately whenever the Fire Alarm bell sounds. Reports to the Engineering Office or Operators area to check the location of the alarm signal. If assigned by the Chief Engineer/Asst Chief Engineer or Fire Controller proceeds to the identified area to investigate the cause of the alarm.
  • Promptly informs the Chief Engineer/Engineering Supervisor if the alarm is false or "real" and takes actions as per the hotel Fire Procedure accordingly.
  • To report any unsafe conditions or practices that compromise safety regulations or could cause damage to hotel property to the Engineering Supervisor immediately whenever seen in the different areas of responsibility
  • Maintains a high level of loyalty and confidentiality and does not divulge hotel or guest information to any unauthorized person.

Scope And General Purpose Of Job

To maintain and repair all Air Conditioning equipment and units within the hotel to ensure their full functionality at all times. All work will be in line with the hotel’s business plan and in accordance with Wyndham corporate policies and procedures, as well as local requirements and regulations.
