Amazon Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging (MSP) in Hamme, Belgium, is seeking a Work Preparator to join our Production Department. You will connect production with cross-functional project teams, plan and monitor both internal production processes and external deliveries, and ensure seamless machining workflows.

The role emphasizes early collaboration with engineers to assess manufacturability, create detailed routings, and supervise project schedules.

Competenze

• Knowledge of mechanical production processes (e.g., milling, turning, welding…).
• Knowledge of ERP systems, SAP is a plus.
• Experience in Microsoft Office.
• Communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

Work Preparator, Amazon Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging (MSP)

At our lab in Hamme, Belgium, we are looking for a Work Preparator to join our Production Department. Depending on industry background and regional terminology, this role may also be recognized as a Manufacturing Process Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Production Engineer, Process Planning Engineer, or Production Readiness Engineer.

The Mechatronics team builds full-stack innovation that ensures fulfillment and delivery network safety, speed, optimization, sustainability and value. We tackle big goals for the Amazon business and work hard to make automation history through invention, problem-solving, and highly-engaged teams. We are a global organization, with research and development labs based in Hamme, Belgium, Boston, MA (US) and Milan, Italy. Our development portfolio is focused on automation solutions in packaging, labeling, sortation and material conveyance that provide broad extensibility across Amazon businesses.

At our lab in Hamme, Belgium we are looking for a Work preparator position within our production department.

As a Work Preparator, you are the crucial link between the production department and cross-functional project teams. You are responsible for preparing, planning, and monitoring both internal production processes and external deliveries. You ensure seamless execution of production activities within a machining environment where processes such as turning, milling, welding, and sheet metal are applied to manufacture parts.

Key job responsibilities

Production Planning & Coordination

• Plan and monitor internal production planning for machining processes (turning, milling, welding, sheet metal)
• Create detailed production routings that provide the shop floor with correct production steps and specifications
• Coordinate with external suppliers to track delivery dates and align with project timelines
• Order raw materials for internal production and manage inventory levels

Technical Feasibility & Engineering Collaboration

• Work closely with engineers from the start of projects to assess the manufacturability of parts
• Identify potential issues and define solutions to ensure smooth production
• Translate technical drawings into feasible production processes based on thorough knowledge of machining techniques

Project Collaboration & Communication

• Represent the production department in multiple concurrent projects
• Monitor project planning and provide production input to keep the schedule clear for all departments
• Work closely with the project team to thoroughly prepare projects before they go into production
• Proactively escalat

Analysis & Calculations

• Perform pre-calculations of production times to support accurate project planning
• Perform post-calculations to analyze actual versus planned performance
• Identify improvement opportunities based on production data

Technical Knowledge (Essential)

• Thorough knowledge of machining production processes:
  • CNC Turning
  • CNC Milling
  • Welding (various welding techniques)
  • Sheet metal
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP experience is a strong plus)
• Understanding of production capacity planning and scheduling principles
