Keeping our people safe and well at work is a top priority at Amazon. Our Safety Technicians play an essential role in making this happen. This role is an opportunity to start your career in workplace safety and develop through a global company. You'll work closely with our experts to monitor your site, which means you'll get to see the difference that you make to people's well-being every day.
We are currently looking to hire a Workplace Health & Safety Technician to join the team and play a critical role in supporting the Amazon Logistics Operational teams onsite. We are looking for an independent individual who can still be a team player with the current WHS team members. The successful candidate will be an experienced, innovative, and hands-on and customer obsessed individual, passionate about safety and able to drive strategy to build an engaging, safe, environment. They will identify, coordinate and drive improvements in safety whilst engaging operational and other support function stakeholders.
The Safety Technician’s focus will be to provide immediate support to ensure compliance with all areas of the Amazon Global Safety Program and applicable laws. Not only will this role help maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to help guide the Operations team, they will also consistently assess risks related to jobs performed, and recommend mitigation measures that can be implemented network wide.
The WHS Technician will report directly to their Regional WHS Manager. They will be assigned to a delivery station with an Operations leader and will support up to 2 Delivery Stations and will work 5 days a week for a maximum of 38 hours.
Because the Safety Technician will not be onsite 24/7, they will continuously train and guide the Operations team to have ownership of Safety and have the capability to perform necessary tasks without WHS assistance.
Amazon Logistics, or AMZL, handles 'last mile' delivery duties in partnership with third-party distribution businesses. We utilize creative thinking and continuous improvement initiatives to get millions of physical products into the hands of our customers. Our goal is to make our customers’ delivery experience as smooth as possible and roll out global delivery solutions for our newest concepts, like Amazon Fresh, Prime Now and Amazon Restaurants.
There are two sides to what we do. Our 'under the roof' associates process millions of products for dispatch to our delivery teams. Our team is people-focused and supportive, particularly as lots of our people work through the night. We focus mostly on operations, with 24/7 shifts in most of our locations.
Meanwhile, our 'on the road' people work with Amazon Flex - a network of delivery contractors. Every year, we continually raise the bar for customer experience with new, innovative delivery services. We look for new ways to overcome industry wide logistics challenges and new ideas to reduce our carbon footprint, supported by a portfolio of cutting-edge vehicles (including Electric Vehicles) and technology to help us do just that.
