Umicore, based in Olen, Belgium, seeks a PhD-qualified researcher for Corporate Research & Development to advance materials and recycling solutions. You will conduct literature studies on waste abatement and valorization options for metals, and contribute to ongoing research projects within a collaborative environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork, networking, and communication in English, with willingness to learn Dutch; French is a plus.

Qualifications

• PhD in Sciences or Engineering or equivalent through relevant research experience.
• Experience in technological and/or techno-economic assessments in metallurgy.
• Driven by scientific and technological challenges.
• Strong internal and external networking skills.
• Creativity and innovation in science and technology.
• Curious nature, eager to learn new things.
• Strong planning and organization skills and result oriented.
• Fluent in English; willingness to learn Dutch; French is a plus.

Responsabilités

• support the further development of your own, as well as the group’s expertise in this competence area
• follow-up research projects, ensuring effective execution and taking responsibility for the results, timing and budget
• effectively communicate with all members of the team, including Corporate EHS
• interact and coordinate with internal and external customers and stakeholders (research centers, technology providers, suppliers)
• identify and generate new ideas for patent filing and participate in the drafting of funding files (Vlaio, EU…)
• take responsibility for environmental, health and safety aspects
