Akkodis is seeking an Analytical Chemist to support pharmaceutical manufacturing and development projects in Belgium. You will prepare samples, perform analyses with microscopy and spectroscopy, and help build a robust data and reference framework.

The role requires 2–3 years lab experience in analytical chemistry, proactivity, and fluency in French. You will collaborate in a cross-disciplinary team and contribute to technical documentation and data interpretation.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of lab experience in analytical chemistry.
• Pharma background is an advantage.
• Fluent in French.
• Read English documents and write reports.

Responsabilités

• Performs analyses supporting pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Development projects.
• Performs sample preparation including isolation of foreign particle material.
• Performs analysis and develops analytical methods: optical microscopy, electron microscopy, elemental analysis, infrared/ Raman spectroscopy, spectro colorimetry, laser diffraction, …
• Analyzes results with a critical mindset and ensures data consistency with context and data.
• Data interpretation in Materials Science, understanding structure–property–processing relationships.
• Documents activities in ELN and sample management systems.
• Contributes to the writing of technical documents such as reports and guides.
• Reads documents in English and writes reports in English.
• Participates in creating a material reference database.
• On equipment, performs calibrations and verifications and maintains instrument integrity.

What are your responsibilities?

• Performs analyses in the context of supporting pharmaceutical Manufacturing and pharmaceutical Development projects (spanning chemical and biological entities): supporting investigations and development activities.
• Performs sample preparation such as isolation of foreign particle material.
• Performs analysis and develops analytical methods: optical microscopy, electron microscopy, elemental analysis, Infrared/Raman spectroscopy, spectro colorimetry, laser diffraction, …
• Analyzes results with critical mindset and ensures the consistency of these results with the context and all available data.
• Data interpretation in the context of Materials Science (understanding the connections between the underlying structure of a material, its properties, its processing methods and its performance in applications).
• Documents the performed activities (e.g. Electronical Lab Notebook, sample management system, …)
• Contributes to the writing of technical documents such as reports, user guides, guidances, …
• Reads documents in English and writes reports in English.
• Participates to the creation of a material reference database.
• On equipment, performs calibrations and other necessary verifications in agreement with procedures and reference documents and assures the integrity and the maintaining of proper functioning of the instruments.

What is your profile?

• Bachelor/Master in (bio-)chemistry and/or analytical chemistry or equivalent.
• Minimum 2-3 years lab experience at least in analytical domain. Pharma background is an advantage.
• Mandatory skills: team player, communication skills, compliant/rigorous (understands the importance of following procedures), meticulous, patient, flexible (needs to combine multiple tasks and must adapt to priority changes)
• Key technical backgrounds: microscopy (optical and electronic) & spectroscopy.
• Makes sure to have received and understood all the information and instructions required for the characterization activities before starting the measurements.
• Communicates appropriately the results and any event that might have a potential impact on the interpretation or timelines of the activity.
• Fluent in French.
