Exail is seeking an engineering intern to help improve and extend the sonar simulator used in our unmanned vehicles. You will work in C++ on core simulation features and collaborate with senior software engineers to implement robust changes.
You will also extend the test framework using Python, refactor existing code for readability, and help ensure reliable software. This on-site internship takes place in Mouscron, Belgium, with a minimum duration of two months.
Exail is a leading industrial player in high-tech solutions for the civil and defence sectors. Exail Robotics Belgium develops and produces unmanned surface/underwater vehicles that detect, identify, and destroy sea mines or explosives. Thanks to our innovative “standoff” concept adopted by the Belgian and Dutch navies, we can significantly reduce the risks involved in mine hunting. We also develop our own sonars, which enable to view and detect objects on the waterbed.
We are seeking a motivated engineering intern to help us improve and extend the capabilities of simulator for our sonar. The current simulator has only minimal functionality and the interface to influence the behaviour of the simulator is not flexible. The simulator is mostly used in combination with our test framework and more flexibility in changing the behaviour of the simulator would improve the testing capabilities. Throughout the project, you will work closely with experienced software engineers to evaluate technical solutions, implement improvements, and ensure the software continues to perform reliably.
