A leading international military organization in Belgium is looking for a professional to support Electromagnetic Operations training and coordination. SHAPE is looking for employing a qualified and suitable candidate to fill this post as a temporary staff from asap until 31 December 2025 (might be subject to extension pending 2026 budget approval). Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) provides an integrated Strategic Effects framework, employing a multi-domain and multi-region focus to create a 360-degree approach, with the flexibility to enable, upon direction, a seamless transition from Baseline Activities and Current Operations (BACO) up to the Maximum Level of Effort (MLE). SHAPE supports SACEUR in fulfilling his terms of reference, as directed by the North Atlantic Council.
The Cyberspace Directorate directs monitors and coordinates all Cyberspace Operations (CO), Electronic Warfare (EW), Electro Magnetic Spectrum (EMS) activity and Communications and Information Systems (CIS) functional area activities and staff functions across ACO. The Directorate takes the role of the Senior Requirements Owner for all related ACO cyberspace capabilities and Requirements Authority for cyberspace related disciplines.
The Cyberspace Operations Centre (CyOC) s the Theatre Component for cyberspace and provides persistent, centralised and comprehensive cyberspace situational awareness, Command and Control (C2) and execution. CyOC also assesses the Electromagnetic Environment (EME) activities to enable SACEUR to establish and maintain superiority, and advise JFC-s and TCC-s in the employment of EW within the assigned JOA-s. The CyOC is within the SHAPE establishment but with different roles and responsibilities.
The Cyberspace Operations Branch will be the means by which the CyOC will coordinate the full spectrum of NATO military activitivities within the cyberspace domain.
The Cyberspace Defence and Effects Section defines, coordinates and manages ACO Cyberspace Effects, across SACEUR’s Area of Responsibility (AOR). delivered through the Sovereign Cyberspace Effects Provided Voluntarily by Allies (SCEPVA) framework, across SACEUR’s Area of Responsibility (AOR).
The incumbent works within the Defence and Effects section with the primary objective of supporting EMO related functions and activities into aspects of NATO Alliance Operations and missions (AOM).
The incumbent will provide support to the SHAPE EW Cell in Cyoc that will evolve into the EMB Staff.
Supports a portfolio that includes the Electromagnetic operations individual and collective training with contributions to NATO's major joint exercises and the integration of EMO concepts and doctrines into EMO training and education programs.
Activities that advise and assist the commander in the conduct of electronic warfare. Involves the Preparation and dissemination of electronic warfare doctrine, plans, orders, intelligence reports and training directives. Develops force or unit electronic warfare programs. Prepares recommendations for utilization of operational/training electronic warfare resources. Directs and coordinates electronic data collection and reconnaissance operations. Reviews, analyzes and/or initiates reports based on data collected by electronic warfare operations and other related programs.
Higher Secondary education and completed higher vocational training in related discipline leading to a formal technical or professional certification with 3 years function related experience, or a Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years post related experience.
