Merck Life Science in Belgium is seeking a Customer Application Specialist for GMP & Process Chemicals, bridging our team and biopharma customers. You’ll work with Account Managers to drive growth in Process Solutions and biotech innovations such as monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins.

This hands-on role blends technical knowledge with commercial drive; you’ll present solutions at senior levels, manage complex relationships, and mentor the commercial team to spot and nurture

Qualifications

• Bioprocess engineer background with sales, commercial or application specialist experience.
• 3–5+ years in biotech or pharmaceutical manufacturing with GMP experience.
• Builds strong relationships with stakeholders and influences outcomes.
• Fluent in English; French or Dutch is a plus.

Your Role

As a Customer Application Specialist for GMP & Process Chemicals, you'll be the bridge between our team and customers in the biopharmaceutical space. You'll work with Account Managers and sales leaders across a defined territory to drive growth in Process Solutions, focusing on biotech innovations like monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, plasma proteins, and novel modalities. Your deep expertise in bioprocessing will help customers solve real problems while you identify and pursue strategic market opportunities. You'll lead go-to-market initiatives, manage complex customer relationships, and translate market insights into action. This is a hands-on role combining technical knowledge with commercial drive - you'll present solutions at the highest levels, close deals, and mentor your commercial team to spot and nurture opportunities. You'll report directly to the Head of Customer Application GMP & Process Chemicals EMEA.

Who You Are

• Have a Bioprocess engineer background with sales, commercial or application specialist background.
• You have 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in biotech or pharmaceutical manufacturing, with proven expertise in bioprocessing and GMP environments.
• You build strong relationships with key stakeholders, from C-suite customers to internal partners, and influence outcomes through collaboration.
• You put customer needs at the center of everything you do, staying focused on the business areas that matter most to us.
• You thrive in a commercial environment, comfortable discussing competitive dynamics, market share, and growth opportunities.
• You're energized by complex, large-scale opportunities and enjoy working with teams to prospect, qualify, propose, negotiate, and close deals.
• Proficient in English and ideally French or Dutch.
