VITO is seeking a hands-on Technical Lead to shape the architecture of Earth Observation platforms and lead complex technical work in the Environmental Intelligence unit based in Mol, Belgium.

You will drive architectural decisions, guide engineers and collaborate with partners such as ESA and the European Commission to evolve our openEO-based stack toward AI-enabled, sovereign deployments, while maintaining a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with data focus.
• Experience leading architecture for cloud-native platforms.
• Proficient in Python/Scala and guiding tech choices.
• Familiar with Kubernetes, CI/CD and observability tools.
• Interest in GeoAI and openEO standards.

Responsabilités

• Shape architecture for large-scale EO platforms.
• Lead technical work from proposal to delivery.
• Explore GeoAI capabilities and AI-enabled interfaces.
• Collaborate with engineers, EO experts and PMs.
• Ensure quality through testing, CI, documentation.
