YOUR TASKS
- You will assist with the practice-based teaching of the department, in particular for the course Historical Practice I, specifically for the modules Early Modern History and Modern and Contemporary History. You will assist with the organization of the modules, supervising the students for their assignments, and with the evaluation of the assignments.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a degree of Master in History or equivalent. The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment
- For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted
- You are involved in other professional activities and/or you have demonstrable experience that may contribute to the quality of the practice-based teaching at the department
- You posses demonstrable experience in teaching practice-based courses at university level and you have experience in supervising students
- You have thorough knowledge of and practical experience with heuristics and research in Early Modern and Modern History
- You have extensive experience with archives and libraries, particularly in Belgium.
- You have practical experience with digital learning environments and ICT in education.
- You have an excellent knowledge of Dutch, both written and spoken, and a good command of English and French
- Participation in extra teaching-related training, conferences, etc. is recommended
- You are interested in academic and/or project-based research and service provision
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a 2-year appointment which will not be renewed. Attention: You cannot be appointed for a cumulative percentage of more than 30% as a Teaching Assistant at Ghent University
- Your appointment will start on 01.11.2025 the earliest
