Alstom in Charleroi is seeking a System Architect. You will define system architectures and specifications, applying system engineering techniques while collaborating with design, project engineering managers, and program teams to ensure timely delivery and high-quality designs.

You’ll contribute to technical reviews, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives, while aligning with safety and cybersecurity requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in system engineering within projects or programs.
  • Experience with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE).
  • Knowledge of railway program domain and hardware/software development; System V&V processes.

Responsabilités

  • Lead system design and specifications ensuring user needs, safety, cybersecurity and testability.
  • Write requirements, model and maintain traceability across systems.
  • Contribute to verification processes and technical reviews.
  • Collaborate on configuration management and material selection for system delivery.
  • Support risk identification and development strategy; participate in program documentation.

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your system engineering expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside innovative, collaborative, and dynamic teammates.

You'll play a key role in shaping the design and specifications of systems or subsystems for new developments or by evolving existing ones. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business, including System Designers, Program Development Managers, and Project Engineering Managers, to ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery of system designs, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of defining system architectures and specifications while applying System Engineering techniques, but also contribute to technical reviews, decision-making processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

We’ll look to you for:

Leading and participating in system design and specifications, ensuring integration of end-user needs, safety, cybersecurity, and testability.

Managing system specifications, including requirements writing, modelling, and traceability.

Applying verification processes, such as document and peer reviews.

Collaborating on configuration management and material selection for system delivery.

Supporting risk identification and development strategy definition.

Contributing to program/project documentation, including training materials and user manuals.

Staying informed on technological advancements through active technological watch.

Promoting the Alstom Code of Ethics and adhering to the highest standards of ethical conduct.

Engineer Degree (mandatory); a Master’s Degree or certification in System Engineering is a plus.

Minimum 3 years of experience in system engineering within project or program contexts.

Experience with Model-Based System Engineering and knowledge of the railway program domain.

Understanding of hardware and software development, as well as System V&V processes.

Proficiency in designing for safety, cybersecurity, RAM compliance, and quality life cycle.

Strong English communication skills and ability to work transversally with engineering teams.

Technical decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
