skeyes is seeking a Support Engineer Data to ensure the proper functioning of data communication systems used by pilots and air traffic controllers. You will handle corrective maintenance, troubleshoot, and coordinate with suppliers.

The role requires an engineering or Master’s degree in IT/electronics, knowledge of TCP/IP, OSI model, and data cabling; willingness to work shifts; fluent in English, with Dutch or French preferred; and you will undergo security screening. Based in Steenokkerzeel.

Qualifications

• Engineering or Master’s degree in IT/electronics/ICT.
• Familiar with data communication components, networks, OSI layers, TCP/IP, network analysis and cabling.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours due to 24/7 operations.
• Strong written and spoken English; Dutch or French preferred.
• Fast learner with ability to adapt to new technologies.
• Team player who can also work independently.

Responsabilités

• Perform corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and supplier coordination.
• Draft specifications for replacement/renewal of data communication systems and related infrastructure.
• Develop knowledge of aeronautical data communication within international programmes (SESAR, SWIM, NewPENS, etc.).
• Support installation and testing of underlying IT infrastructure (networks, servers, cyber security).
• Learn and follow data communication protocols and aviation message handling regulations to ensure safety.

Description du poste

As our Support Engineer Data, you are responsible for the proper functioning of our data communication systems. These systems enable pilots and air traffic controllers to communicate with each other continuously. In this way, you help keep air traffic safe.

What does a skeyes Support Engineer Data do?

• You will be involved in corrective maintenance, including troubleshooting and repair, technician support and will enlist the support of suppliers, if necessary.
• You will draw up technical specifications for the replacement and/or renewal of typical data communication systems, international connection infrastructure.
• You will develop knowledge and follow up all aspects of aeronautical data communication in the framework of international programmes (such as SESAR, SWIM, NewPENS, etc.) and in the context of new technologies (e.g. cyber security, virtualisation, etc.).
• You support the follow-up of the installation and testing during the implementation of the underlying IT infrastructure (computer networks, servers, cyber security, etc.).
• You learn and follow the data communication protocols, procedures, regulations,… in the field of processing aviation messages to ensure safety.

Candidate profile

What makes you the perfect Support Engineer Data?

• You preferably hold an engineering or a Master’s degree in IT or electronics/ICT.
• You are familiar with the following data communication: components, networks, OSI model layers, protocols (TCP/IP), network analysis and data cabling (fibre, UTP, Cu).
• Because our systems have to be operational 24/7, we expect you to be flexible and available to take turns outside the normal working hours.
• You have written and verbal communication skills in English and preferably also in Dutch or French.
• You are able and motivated to learn new technologies quickly.
• You are a team player but can also work independently.
• You are solution-oriented/creative and dynamic.
• You are in possession of a category B driving licence.
