Job summary

VITO is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager for the Water & Energy Transition unit at EnergyVille, Genk. You will help bring VITO technologies to market by co-developing products and services with companies and transferring know-how.

You will work with Battery Management and Battery Testing teams, supporting contracts, CRM, and valorisation roadmaps while collaborating across VITO units to identify synergies and opportunities.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in engineering, energy, building & construction (or related field).
• Fluent in Dutch and English; strong communication skills in both languages.
• Proven commercial experience in innovation or valorisation roles for R&D.
• Familiar with protection/valorisation of intellectual property (IP).
• Able to translate market and technology trends into innovative solutions (services/products).
• Strategic thinker with CRM and key account management skills.

Responsibilities

• Familiarise yourself with key technologies, competencies and IP within the team and current applications.
• Follow up contacts and contracts with industrial partners with Lead Scientists and the Program Manager to move tech toward market.
• Register interactions with potential clients in the CRM and monitor key accounts.
• Participate in internal and external networking to scout new contract research opportunities.
• Lead the valorisation strategy, define and execute a roadmap and commercial action plans.
• Initiate and support targeted marketing activities with Lead Scientists and central Marketing/Communications.
• Coordinate R&D proposal preparation with lead scientists and negotiate R&D contracts.
• Provide support in technology transfer and licensing in collaboration with IP/Tech Transfer Office.
• Regularly report status of contract research portfolios and valorisation tracks to team and Valorisation Director.
