Job summary

Shurgard Self-Storage is seeking an Architectural Draughtsman to create detailed architectural plans using CAD and related design software. Based at our European Headquarters in Brussels (Groot-Bijgaarden), you will help maintain building plans and project databases and participate from feasibility through project completion, with regular travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architecture.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in architectural drafting across diverse projects, preferably commercial.
• Knowledge of design, construction, engineering principles and building regulations.
• Experience in retail sector with international exposure is highly desirable.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in German, French, and/or Dutch, with German as a strong asset.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop, and ability to create 3D renderings from SketchUp or Revit.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD dynamic blocks and external scripting is a plus.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft applications.

Responsibilities

• Support the Design Team with CAD skills and develop architectural plans; create Database for completed projects.
• Receive full AutoCAD training for unit-mix layouts (external and internal) during initial period; draw unit-mixes for projects.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE JOB!

You create architectural plans using CAD and other design software.
You ensure the keeping of building plans and information of Shurgard's properties as a Data Base to be used by Real Estate and other departments. The creation of the architectural plans starts from the feasibility stage of the project up to the project completion.

You are based at the European Headquarters in Brussels (Groot-Bijgaarden). The position includes the ability to travel on a regular basis.

You report to the Deputy Director of Construction.

LET'S TALK ABOUT YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES!

• You support the Design Team with the technical CAD skills on developing the architectural plans and creating Data Base for the completed projects.
• You will be fully trained in self-storage external and internal layouts (called Unit-Mix), based on AutoCAD during your initial period. You will be required to draw the unit-mixes for the projects.
• You ensure the accuracy of the plans vs. built structure and the information extracted from the CAD (sqm, number of units, etc.)
• You maintain the filing system and project databases.
• You are to be trained to become Architectural Designer within 2 years.

• You have a bachelor's degree in architecture.
• You have at least 3 years of experience in architectural drafting in different projects, preferable commercial projects.
• You have knowledge about principles of design, construction, engineering and building regulations.
• You bring experience within the retail sector and you have international exposure, both of which are highly desirable.
• You are fluent in English and have a good command of at least one of the following languages: German, French, and/or Dutch, with German being a strong asset.
• You are proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop and have good knowledge to realize 3D renderings from SketchUp or Revit models. Knowing about
• AutoCAD dynamic blocs and external scripting would be a plus
  You have a working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
