Motive Partners is looking for a Software Engineer (TypeScript) based in Ghent, Belgium, to build a category-defining product from the ground up. This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple levels and stacks.

You will own the features you build, collaborate with product and design, and contribute to a modern tech stack. Proficiency in TypeScript, React, and experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL is essential.

Software Engineer TypeScript

What you’ll own

We're hiring software engineers at all levels and across the stack: frontend, backend, mobile, full stack, platform, and product‑minded engineers who want to own what they build.

As a product engineer, you'll work closely with internal stakeholders, product and design to understand scope and requirements, then build features and ship with end‑to‑end ownership.

The day to day

Ship Product That Matters

• Build and ship features across backend, web and mobile platforms that delight users and improve their financial lives.
• Own features end‑to‑end: from understanding the problem with product and design, through implementation, to monitoring in production.
• Work on a category‑defining product with a huge market opportunity and real initial traction.

Work Across the Stack

• Contribute to frontend (React, React Native, Tailwind, shadcn/ui), backend (NestJS, Hono, Drizzle ORM), or both, depending on where you're strongest and what you want to grow into.
• Write clean, simple, readable, maintainable, type‑safe TypeScript across the entire codebase.
• Help evolve our infrastructure on AWS (SST/Pulumi, PostgreSQL on Neon, GitHub Actions) as the platform scales.

Shape Engineering Culture

• Participate in code reviews, architectural decisions, and internal platform initiatives.
• Help set the standards of an engineering culture people can be proud of for many years to come.
• Share knowledge, mentor teammates, and contribute to best practices across the team.
• Bring a security mindset to safeguard sensitive financial customer data.

Build With a Modern Stack

• Monorepo using pnpm workspaces and Turborepo.
• Frontend: React, React Native, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind, shadcn/ui.
• Backend: NestJS, Drizzle ORM, Hono, vitest, bun.
• Infrastructure: SST/Pulumi on AWS, GitHub Actions, PostgreSQL on Neon.
• Collaboration: Linear, Slack, Notion, GitHub, Sentry, Cursor, Claude Code, CodeRabbit.
• Principles: reusable primitives, strict type safety, clean code, and yes, cooldown weeks.

This Role Is for You If…

We're looking for engineers at every career stage. What matters most is that you care about your craft, you ship with ownership, and you want to build something that matters.

• You have strong proficiency in TypeScript (or are demonstrably fast at picking it up) and genuine enthusiasm for working across the full stack.
• You've built things with React, React Native, Node.js, or similar modern frameworks. The specific combination matters less than your ability to learn and adapt.
• You're comfortable with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and have some exposure to cloud infrastructure.
• You write clean, simple, type‑safe code and care about code quality without being dogmatic about it.
• You have a security mindset, especially important when handling sensitive financial data.
• You're a strong communicator who thrives in a collaborative, fast‑moving team.
• You're fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Bonus points: fintech or financial services experience, infrastructure as code (SST), open‑source contributions, consumer apps at scale.
