Job summary

Veoware Space leads in space technology and seeks an experienced Software Architect & Team Technical Lead to steer embedded software for reaction wheel and control moment gyroscopes. You will guide architecture from early design to qualification and ensure high reliability in space environments.

Lead a small team, define standards, and collaborate with FPGA and hardware groups to ensure robust integration and traceability across disciplines.

Qualifications

Job description

Veoware Space develops satellite agility solutions that give spacecraft, launch vehicles, space cargo systems and future planetary landers unprecedented manoeuvrability and performance. Our products combine advanced control algorithms, embedded software, electronics and mechanical systems.

We are looking for an experienced Software Architect & Team Technical Lead to lead the embedded software powering our reaction wheel and control moment gyroscope product lines.

Your Mission

You will lead a small team and own the technical vision of this software and how it evolves, from early design decisions through qualification and customer acceptance, ensuring it is robust, maintainable and meets the quality standards required for space applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the software architecture across product lines.
• Lead technical design decisions and document architectural choices.
• Establish and promote software development, review and testing standards, and review software for correctness, maintainability and compliance.
• Work closely with FPGA, avionics, control and systems engineers to ensure seamless integration.
• Contribute to build-versus-buy decisions and technology selection.
• Collaborate with Product Assurance to ensure software qualification readiness.
• Support customer reviews, technical audits and qualification activities.
• Guide and mentor a growing software team.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of software engineering practices.

Education & Experience

• Master's degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
• Significant experience (typically 10+ years) in embedded software development for complex or regulated systems requiring high levels of reliability, traceability and verification.
• Experience defining software architectures, leading technical decisions and guiding engineers through reviews, mentoring or technical leadership.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering environments, including close work with FPGA and hardware development teams.

Technical Expertise

• Strong experience developing embedded firmware in C/C++ on microcontroller-based systems.
• Solid understanding of software architecture principles for embedded systems.
• Familiarity with ECSS-E-ST-40, DO-178C or similar development frameworks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English with French or /Dutch
