• Apply ZeroTrust principles in daily infrastructure decisions and access controls.

A Belgian national security organisation maintains secure Microsoft Windows infrastructure for controlled internal services and endpoint management. This senior Windows specialist role combines Microsoft SCCM, Exchange, LDAP, EDR, VMware and PowerShell scripting with the application of ZeroTrust principles in a security-sensitive environment.

The mission

The technical landscape includes Microsoft Windows servers and endpoints, Microsoft SCCM for software deployment, Exchange for messaging, LDAP for directory services, EDR for endpoint detection, and VMware virtualisation. The work supports service continuity and security controls, with access, changes, and operational evidence handled under strict procedures. ITIL structures service management, while Agile practices support coordination and delivery of infrastructure improvements.

As the senior Windows specialist, you will own the administration and improvement of core Windows services. You will investigate incidents, implement changes, automate repeatable work, and contribute to decisions across endpoint, directory, messaging, and virtualisation components. You will connect daily operations to ZeroTrust requirements and coach colleagues on standards and supportable solutions.

Your responsibilities

• Maintain and improve Microsoft Windows servers, endpoints, and related infrastructure to keep services reliable and supportable.
• Automate administration, monitoring, and repeatable operational work through PowerShell scripting.
• Manage software distribution, patching, and endpoint configuration with Microsoft SCCM.
• Support Exchange, LDAP, EDR, and VMware services while applying security and access controls.
• Deliver controlled changes through ITIL processes and Agile collaboration.
• Coach colleagues, document technical standards, and improve knowledge sharing across the team.

Essential skills

• Bring at least 10 years of proven experience in senior Windows administration or a comparable infrastructure role.
• Administer Microsoft Windows environments across servers and endpoints, including troubleshooting and lifecycle management.
• Use PowerShell scripting to create reliable automation and reduce manual operational work.
• Work confidently with Microsoft SCCM, Exchange, LDAP, EDR, and VMware.
• Apply ZeroTrust principles and security‑mindful (???) access controls in daily infrastructure decisions.
• Combine ITIL‑based service management with Agile delivery practices.
• Communicate clearly, coach colleagues, and contribute effectively as a senior member of a technical team.
• Hold Belgian nationality and possess a Top Secret security clearance, or be prepared to obtain one.

Preferred skills

• Experience supporting Linux systems or Docker-based workloads.
