Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned Virtualization System Engineer in Belgium to design, implement and operate Nutanix AHV and VMware environments. You will drive clustering, HA, and disaster recovery, while documenting procedures for 1st/2nd line support and defining SLAs.

The role requires 7+ years in virtualization, strong English along with Dutch or French, and a proactive, team-oriented approach to sharing knowledge and best practices.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of experience as a Virtualization System Engineer.
• 2+ years in a senior role with end responsibility for technical matters.
• Senior IT System Engineer level experience.
• Fluent in Dutch or French with passive knowledge of the other language; good English.
• Strong expertise in Nutanix AHV and VMware vSphere.
• Strong knowledge of backup and data protection solutions, including SLA management and archiving.
• Good knowledge of SAN and storage technologies.
• Solid understanding of Windows Server in virtualized infrastructures.
• Good knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and SMTP.
• Experience with monitoring and reporting tools in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on with automation, backup/storage, hyperconverged infrastructure and virtualization.
• Ability to prioritize multiple requests with urgency and impact.
• Analytical mindset and openness to new solutions and technologies.
• Team player who shares knowledge and best practices.

Description du poste

• Provide level 2 and level 3 support for virtualization and backup platforms
• Design, manage and maintain Nutanix AHV and VMware environments
• Implement and maintain clustering and high-availability solutions
• Document operational procedures for 1st and 2nd line support
• Design, implement and operate enterprise backup solutions for virtual servers
• Define and enforce backup SLAs, RPO and RTO
• Configure backup policies, retention, restore processes and reporting
• Manage archiving and long-term retention for virtual workloads
• Automate provisioning and recurring operational activities related to virtualization and backup
• Automate virtual server deployments
• Create and maintain scripts for backup, restore, monitoring and maintenance tasks
• Monitor and optimize performance, capacity and storage consumption proactively
• Contribute to disaster recovery planning and testing
• Define and validate restore and disaster recovery scenarios
• Participate in DR tests and continuously improve recovery procedures
• Follow up incidents and communicate clearly when service levels are at risk or breached
• Keep technical expertise up to date and share knowledge with colleagues
• Support continuity and security initiatives with infrastructure specialists and other teams
• Participate in internal team meetings and ensure efficient handover of information and work

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience as a Virtualization System Engineer
• At least 2 years in a senior role with end responsibility for technical matters
• Relevant experience at senior IT System Engineer level
• Fluent in Dutch or French, with passive knowledge of the other national language
• Good command of English
• Strong expertise in virtualization platforms, ideally Nutanix AHV and VMware vSphere
• Strong knowledge of backup and data protection solutions, including SLA management and archiving
• Good knowledge of SAN and storage technologies
• Solid understanding of Windows Server environments in virtualized infrastructures
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and SMTP
• Good knowledge of server hardware and virtual infrastructure components
• Experience with monitoring and reporting tools in enterprise environments
• Hands-on experience with automation, backup and storage, hyperconverged infrastructure and virtualization
• Ability to prioritize multiple requests by balancing urgency, impact and customer interest
