Pauwels Consulting in Mechelen is seeking a technical expert to drive the digitalization of a public transport vehicle fleet. You will lead the integration of modern hardware and software on a multi-vendor platform to boost driver support and operational efficiency.

You will design analyses, steer external vendors, and promote microservice and event-driven patterns while ensuring hardware–software coherence and robust code quality.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience as Technical Lead, Solution Architect, or Senior Software Developer on complex integrations.
• 8+ years of backend development with C++, Python and MQTT.
• Extensive knowledge of Linux and containerization technologies.
• Deep understanding of APIs, microservices and event-driven architecture.
• Experience steering external software suppliers.
• Proven system integration in multi-vendor environments.
• Experience documenting and assessing detailed technical analyses.
• Fluent in Dutch (C2) and English.

This role focuses on the integration of modern hardware and software components within a complex vehicle platform to enhance driver support and operational efficiency.

• Provide technical leadership and steering for the integration of new and legacy on-board systems.
• Evaluate and manage the technical performance of external software vendors.
• Design and document technical analyses for complex multi-vendor system integrations.

• You have 8+ years of experience as a Technical Lead, Solution Architect, or Senior Software Developer within complex integration projects.
• You bring 8+ years of expertise in backend development and messaging using C++, Python, and MQTT.
• You possess extensive knowledge of Linux and containerization technologies.
• You have a deep understanding of modern software and integration patterns such as APIs, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
• You're experienced in the technical steering and critical evaluation of external software suppliers.
• You possess proven experience with system integration in complex multi-vendor environments.
• You have experience documenting and assessing detailed technical analyses.
• You are fluent in Dutch (level C2) with knowledge of English.
