Alex Staff is seeking a Lead Ruby on Rails Software Engineer to join the Engineering team. This role blends hands-on technical ownership with people leadership, driving architecture and delivery of complex software while mentoring engineers.

You will lead architecture and delivery across Rails applications, APIs, and distributed systems, coordinating across Product, Engineering, and Architecture teams to achieve scalable, secure solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development experience.
• 5+ years in Ruby on Rails.
• Experience designing and scaling APIs and distributed systems.
• Experience with MySQL or other relational databases.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD practices.
• Strong English communication; interviews conducted in English; ability to communicate in Russian or Ukrainian.
• Ability to lead cross-team technical projects.

• Lead architecture, design, and development of Ruby on Rails applications.
• Plan and oversee large technical projects involving multiple teams.
• Coordinate tasks within complex cross-team programs.
