ASM International N.V. invites you to join its Global R&D Process Engineering Program as a Senior Engineer, Process Engineering, starting with an 18–24 month development track in Leuven, Belgium.

You will advance through structured learning and hands‑on work on advanced deposition processes and device integration, with relocation to Japan, Korea or the US after the program. You will collaborate across cross‑functional teams to push the boundaries of ALD, CVD and epitaxy, while contributing to IP

Qualifications

• PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
• 0-7+ years of combined education, research and work experience in thin film deposition.
• Experience with ALD, CVD, Epitaxy, PECVD and related deposition techniques.
• Experience with materials characterization techniques such as XPS, SIMS, RBS, AFM, XRR, XRD, TEM, SEM, and ellipsometry.
• Knowledge of electrical characterization techniques for CMOS devices.
• Understanding of integration of metal/oxide films in FEOL/BEOL flows.

Responsibilities

• Work with semiconductor processing equipment to research, develop and optimize deposition unit processes.
• Develop ideas and stay current with state‑of‑the‑art processing applications.
• Process consulting and writing technical papers and IP creation.
• Participate in problem‑solving using Ishikawa diagrams.
• Design and conduct experiments using DOE and RSM.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems with hands‑on engagement.
• Collaborate with customers and marketing to define requirements for demonstrations.
• Develop methods to integrate metal/oxide films into device technologies.
• Support product transfer to customers and document process development and tool operation.
• Produce technical papers and present to professional audiences.
